Cinematic electronica artist Urhosson releases his EP titled ‘Nove’ on March 24, 2023. Building fundamental foundations with minimalist string and piano arrangements the artist caresses his synthesizers and paints intimate sound portraits with comfortable late night feels.

The EP shows a strong arc in four instrumental songs, starting with more synth heavy ‘River Poem’ moving into ethereal ‘Shoreline Sunset’ with a heavy cinematic feel underlined by a video. ‘Mushroom Empire’ takes the listener to a more rhytmic journey with experimental beats. ‘Antifragility’ is a beautiful piano-driven electro-acoustic ending to the EP.

Behind Urhosson, Juha Tuukkanen, a multi-faceted producer for other artists and friends.
“With Urhosson I’m trying to reveal a honest audio-portrait of myself although I know it’s challenging with instrumental sound. Still, I feel there is a simultaneous magic and danger in communication without words, be it music or real life, where I feel like home. This new EP is a more compact follow up to the four albums released last year. This time there is more focus and arc in the collection of tracks.”

The EP was produced by Urhosson in the private dim light of his experimental vintage-electronics and instruments filled studio space.

ARTIST PROFILE

Urhosson is a composer and producer based in Helsinki, Finland who creates atmospheres that fuse electronic and neoclassical elements. The voice of music for Urhosson is not so much about tracks that evolve as songs on a large scale, but moods that evolve in a meaningful way, with intention. Main source of inspiration for Urhosson has always been the sea. Seeming endless, often dark and blue, reflecting the sky and in good times, decorated by a sunrise. Near the sea is where the artist spends as much time as possible.

During the last years, having worked and collaborated with diverse selection of lowkey friends/artists, the ever evolving creative environment for Urhosson has been fine tuned to allow music to be created with intuition and invention, without much technical boundaries. In addition to the music, some of the released tracks are complemented with minimalistic videos made by Urhosson. These videos are almost art-installation like, portraying memories or scenes, focusing on a specific subject or a moment in time.

Urhosson’s musical influences range from Japanese shoegaze, neo-classical, minimalist, electronica, field recordings and more to jazz and installation music. Soundtracks and film scores have always been a great inspiration and this can surely be heard in the moods and modes of his sound. Inspirational echos in the music of Urhosson can be heard from Jóhann Jóhannsson, Steve Reich, Ólafur Arnalds and Jon Hopkins, to mention a few.
