Cinematic electronica artist Urhosson is set to release his EP titled ‘ACT’ on November 24, 2023, available on all digital platforms through Pocket Echos. The EP features a compelling blend of lush, dark strings and delicate piano arrangements. Urhosson skillfully pushes the boundaries of his synthesizers and sub-frequency generators to create an intimate and rich sonic landscape, painting evocative sound portraits.

As a dedicated lover of full albums and vinyl listening, Urhosson has meticulously crafted this EP to be a captivating journey in its own right. The overall mood seamlessly transitions from ethereal and soothing tones to more hypnotic, darker vibes.

The EP contains five instrumental songs, starting with neoclassical arrangement of ‘Sonhos‘, moving into experimental resonant beats of ‘Reload’ and more ambient feels of ‘Like It Never Happened’, which is a song vaguely about survival from trauma. ‘Liber’ takes the listener to a house journey with living and breathing pianos. ‘Act’ is a chill cinematic string-driven ending to the EP that was produced by Urhosson in the private dim light of his experimental vintage-electronics and instruments filled home-studio space.

ARTIST PROFILE

Urhosson (born Juha Tuukkanen, 1979 in Helsinki) is an Finnish producer and composer based in Helsinki, Finland who creates atmospheres that fuse electronic and neoclassical elements. The voice of music for Urhosson is not so much about tracks that evolve as songs on a large scale, but moods that evolve in a meaningful way, with intention. Main source of inspiration for Urhosson has always been the sea. Seeming endless, often dark and blue, reflecting the sky and in good times, decorated by a sunrise. Near the sea is where Urhosson spends as much time as possible.

During the last years, having worked and collaborated with diverse selection of lowkey friends/artists, the ever evolving creative environment for Urhosson has been fine tuned to allow music to be created with intuition and invention, without much technical boundaries. In addition to the music, some of the released tracks are complemented with minimalistic videos made by Urhosson. These videos are art-installation like, portraying memories or scenes, focusing on a specific subject or a moment in time.

In the debut year 2022 he released four albums on the Finnish label Pocket Echos.

Urhosson’s musical influences range from Japanese shoegaze, neo-classical, minimalist, electronica, field recordings and more to jazz and installation music. Soundtracks and film scores have always been a great inspiration and this can surely be heard in the moods and modes of his sound. Inspirational echos in the music of Urhosson can be heard from Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Ólafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm, to mention a few.
